Third conditional
(if + past perfect, would have + past participle)
·We use this type of conditional to talk about events that didn’t happen.

We can use as long as, even if, providing that or unless in the conditional to replace if

- Providing that or as long as: We use them to mean “but only if”.
- Even if:   We use it to emphasize the condition.
- Unless:  We use it to express negative conditions.

Wishes and regrets

WISH/If ONLY + PAST SIMPLE: We use it when we want to
·We use it when we wish that something was different in the present.

WISH/If ONLY + PAST PERFECT:
·We use it when we regret something in the past.

WISH/If ONLY + WOULD: 
·We use it to complain about a thing or a situation
